How well do you cope with change?

Sometimes changes may be seen as positive – a bumper crop or business expansion. Other times it may be more difficult – like lower market prices or staff disruptions.

Change is inevitable but you have a choice of how to handle the change in your world. You don’t want to be in a position where you look back and wish you’d handled the change differently.

The discomfort of change is where all the learning is found. When we stop growing, we start declining.

Embrace change.
Normalise being uncomfortable.
Shift your mindset.

HOW?

Here are a few tips:
– NAME It – what’s going on? Why do I feel out of control? Oh, this is change. This is new. This may be scary. This is normal.
– ASSESS the timeframe – This will only be for a few hours/days/weeks. I’m freaking out now, but it won’t be forever.
– Be REALISTIC – Lower the bar. Expect yourself to be less than perfect. I’m still learning. I’m adjusting to the change.

You have the power to choose whether to embrace change or fear change. As they said in Shawshank Redemption – “Get busy living or get busy dying”
